Kicks Count!
Counting your baby’s kicks during your last trimester of pregnancy is a great way for you and your partner to bond with your baby. By making a conscious effort to perform a kick count at the same time every day, you can also help your doctor monitor your baby’s health. What your baby is telling you with its kicks is important!
Doctors recommend that parents start counting and keeping track of their baby’s kicks beginning in the 28th week of pregnancy. By doing this every day, you will get to know what the normal pattern for your baby is within a week or two. By using a kick count chart, you and your doctor will be able to tell if there are any changes in your baby’s normal pattern. Studies show that a significant decrease in your baby's normal pattern could be a signal that there’s a problem.

A Kicks Count! Success Story: BABY DANNY REMINDS US THAT KICKS REALLY DO COUNT!

A testimonial from the mother of this beautiful baby, recently received by First Candle:
I just wanted to thank you for your awareness campaign for "Kicks Count!" You could say we are a success story. I was 37 weeks pregnant and contacted my Dr. one evening because of reduced activity confirmed with a kick count (baby had only moved once in an hour long period). Dr. had me come in immediately, and within a short period of time my son was born via c-section. Turns out the cord was wrapped around his neck 4 times and he could no longer move. Dr. said if we hadn't come in when we did we could've had a "different outcome" then his healthy birth. Baby Danny is now 8 months old and all is well. Thanks again for all you do - just making parents-to-be aware can make all the difference.
